 Marco Antonio Fujihara

Independent advisor

ESG Senior Advisor of Lacan since 2022 and with more than 40 years of experience in the forestry sector, he has been developing business qualification projects based on the Kyoto protocol since 1998 and, more recently, based on the Paris Agreements and voluntary markets as well as jurisdictional markets for the energy and forest-based sectors such as pulp and paper. He was coordinator of Forest Products for Mercosur, Superintendent of the Brazilian Society of Forestry, Coordinator of Natural Resources at Bracelpa (National Association of Pulp and Paper Manufacturers) and Director of Renewable Natural Resources of IBAMA (Brazilian Environment Institute) in Brasilia.

 

As an Agricultural Engineer, he took extension courses in Economics of Agricultural and Forestry Companies, Politics and Strategy and finally in Climate Change in Harvard University. He worked with the IPCC from 2002 to 2009 as a reviewer of WG2 and is currently an advisor for the CDP - Carbon Disclosure Project LATAM and ICLEI at Latam – Local Governments for Sustainability. He has also been an advisor to the CIF - Climate Investment Fund (World Bank and MDBs) and keyman of the Sustainability Fund of Brazil at the BNDES Clean Development Program as well as the Performa /Key Fund and Technological Innovation for Sustainability. He worked with Multilateral Organizations (WB, IDB) in the preparation of Investment Funds with Socio-Environmental Impact (InovaCapital Fund of the Inter-American Development Bank - IDB). He was Sustainability Director at PWC Brazil with operations in Latin America and Director at Key associados with a specific focus on carbon finance and corporate sustainability. Owner and Director of RADCE, a consulting firm focused on managing green and sustainable investments, Marco Antonio has participated on several boards of companies and organizations in the third sector. He is currently dedicated to innovative solutions at Techsocial, SINAI and ECOFIX, where he develops digital platforms and sustainable finance with the help of credit instruments and venture capital.

 

He also coordinates the Environmental Services Payment Program at TFA/WEF -World Economic Forum at MATOPIBA, as well as TNC global environmental services platform – The Nature Conservancy. He is also a professor of Sustainability and Compliance at FIA - Institute of Administration and ESG in Practice at the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance. Lastly, he is also a member of the Agribusiness group at the Business School of the University of São Paulo as well as executive coordinator of the FBMC (Brazilian forum on climate change).

 Winston Fritsch, PhD 

Independent advisor

ESG Senior Advisor of Lacan since June 2023; presently Senior Advisor of Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) in Brazil; Trustee Emeritus of the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI), being one of the leaders of its Climate Change and Environment group – ranked LATAM’s #1 think tank on the subject. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of IUGU, a Brazilian fintech, and of the Advisory Boards of Root Capital, a leading Brazilian independent credit asset manager, and of climatech startup ECO 55. Holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a BA and MSc in engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

 

At the beginning of his professional career had over 20 years’ experience as an academic, when was Dean of the Centre for Social Sciences of PUC-Rio, where he presently coordinates a pioneer executive training course on the Regulation and Economics of Climate Change. Was Secretary for Economic Policy of the Brazilian Ministry of Finance during the conception and implementation of the Real Stabilization Plan (1993-94) and, after his term of office at the federal government, began a period of over 15 years as a financial executive having been CEO of Dresdner Bank in Brazil, partner of Rio Bravo Investimentos, Managing Director of Lehman Brothers and partner of Nomura Securities at Orienta Investimentos, which he founded and led. During this period, he was Chairman of the Brazilian Association of Foreign Banks and Board Member of FEBRABAN, the Brazilian Banks’ Association.

 

He holds the title of Commander of the Order of the Cruzeiro do Sul, awarded for relevant services rendered for the Federative Republic of Brazil, and is the author of several books and articles on policy issues relating to Brazil and the international economy.

 Julieda Puig

Independent advisor

Julieda Puig is a seasoned expert in international regulation, specializing in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Compliance. 

 

Her extensive global experience spans Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. In the public sector, she served as a Special Advisor to the Finance Minister and Deputy Secretary of Economic Policy during the administration of Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Julieda has made significant contributions in leading organizations such as Itaú-Unibanco, Citibank, and HSBC, including serving as Head of Conduct for Europe and also in other regional and global roles. She has played pivotal roles, with a strategic vision in across diverse sectors, including corporate, retail, asset management, and insurance.

 

Her executive portfolio features C-level positions, where she successfully orchestrated turnarounds in steel and media industries. With over 8 years of experience as a non-executive director, she holds board certification from IBGC (Instituto Brasileiro de Governança Corporativa).

 

Beyond her professional commitments, Julieda is a dedicated volunteer, lending her expertise to Climate Policy Initiatives (CPI) in support of sustainable finance initiatives in regions such as Brazil, Morocco, and Kenya. Julieda's academic background includes a Master's degree in Economics from FGV (Fundação Getúlio Vargas), a Bachelor's degree from USP (Universidade de São Paulo), and an ESG certification from the University of Cambridge. Her professional qualifications encompass ICA FCC, CFA ESG Investing, and GRI (Global Reporting Initiative).

Maria José Brito Zakia​

After completing her undergraduate degree in Forest Engineering at the University of São Paulo (1980), she obtained both a Master’s degree in Forest Resources and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering Sciences from the same institution. From 1998 to 2005, she worked as a Researcher and Consultant at the Institute of Forest Research and Studies (IPEF), where she was responsible for coordinating the environmental monitoring program in micro-watersheds (Promab). She also served as an Accredited Professor in the Graduate Program in Forest Resources at the University of São Paulo from 2001 to 2006.Between January 2005 and January 2009, she was part of the team at Votorantim Celulose e Papel (VCP), working in the environmental and socio-environmental relations areas. In 2009, she resumed her role as a consultant in the socio-environmental field, collaborating with Prática Assessoria Socioambiental while continuing as an advisor at the Institute of Forest Research and Studies. In this role, she coordinated the Working Group for Support of Forest Public Policies (GTPP) from 2012 to July 2018, providing support to the REFLORESTA-SP Program, as well as offering advisory services to forest companies in watershed management and legislation.Additionally, she serves as a guest professor in the Professional Master’s program at the School of Environmental Conservation and Sustainability (ESCAS-IPE) and is an accredited professor in the Graduate Program in Forest Resources at FCA/UNESP.
